After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan Markle’s podcast Archetypes was cancelled. Serena Williams was the guest on the podcast. Markle and Prince Harry then headed to the UK. The podcast’s fourth episode has been released. In it, the Duchess and Prince of Sussex discuss toxic Asian stereotypes.

In her fourth podcast episode, Markle talks to Margaret Cho, a comedian, and Lisa Ling, a journalist about the racism behind some Asian stereotypes. In the episode Meghan also talks about her childhood in Los Angeles, and how that led to her discovering different cultures and her passion for learning. Markle shared her teenage experiences with embracing different cultures in the episode.

Meghan Markle’s embarrassing teen moment

The Duchess was able to give a rare glimpse into her childhood. She recalled her visits to Korean spas with her mother Doria, and how it left her feeling humbled as she went through puberty. There were many women between the ages 9 and 90 waiting for a body scrub. The Duchess of Sussex spoke about watching Korean women embrace the generations-old tradition of the Jimjilbang. She stated, “Once that adolescent embarrassment was over, my mom would take me upstairs and we would sit down in a room to have the most delicious noodles.”

Markle also spoke out about how she didn’t know of the stigma that Asian women face until many years later. Her show featured Mindy Kaling and Mariah Carey, as well as Serena Williams, a close friend of the Duchess. The podcast of the Duchess has been dedicated to discussing women’s various labels that can hold them back.

Although Markle’s podcast is back, there are reports that Prince Harry’s Netflix series with her has been pushed even further after Queen Elizabeth’s death. The Duke and Duchess allegedly want to minimize some conversations that were about senior royals such as King Charles III.
